Russia renews support for UN efforts to achieve political solution

Russia reaffirmed its support for the efforts made by the United Nations (UN) to achieve a compromise-based political solution to the Sahara issue, the spokesman for the Foreign Ministry, Andreï Nesterenko, said.
Russia "reaffirms that its position, which is in line with the UN recommendations, especially the Security Council resolution 1871 which emphasizes the need to comply with the option of achieving a lasting and mutually acceptable political solution," Nesterenko at a press briefing. 

"In accordance with the Security Council recommendations, Russia calls upon all the parties to fully cooperate with the United Nations to move forward in the process aimed at achieving a lasting political solution in the region and engage in the UN Secretary-General's efforts" on this issue.
