Morocco firm on full compliance with Moroccan Law by everyone without exception
Add a brief title

In responding positively to calls by friendly countries and partners on strictly humanitarian grounds, Morocco remains firm on the "full compliance with the Moroccan law by everyone, without exception and throughout the nation's territory," Morocco's Foreign Ministry said on Thursday in a press release, Here follows the full text of the press release: "Throughout the last few weeks, several governments of friendly countries and partners have approached authorities in the Kingdom of Morocco concerning the Moroccan Sahara question.

This issue and the conditions introduced by the other parties for the convening of the second informal meeting, in early December 2009, were at the heart of the talks several officials and leaders of Moroccan political parties have had during visits paid recently to numerous countries.

During these talks, the interlocutors of the Moroccan delegations insisted on the interest taken in Aminatou Haidar’s situation on strictly humanitarian grounds.

Moroccan government officials and political leaders and their interlocutors had a similar understanding of the well-known context of A. Haidar’s attitude, her real political motives and the actual instigators involved.

They explained, in particular, that the timing of A. Haidar’s decision (November 13) was part of a strategy developed and initiated elsewhere. They also noted that the actions of the latter were not about the promotion of human rights, and that she was indeed acting on behalf of the polisario, which remains a totalitarian, military movement in the pay of Algeria, which is hosting, financing and supporting it.

In this respect, several Heads of State, senior officials in friendly countries and partners have requested the Moroccan authorities to show magnanimity and deal with A. Haidar’s case from a strictly humanitarian perspective.

Beyond this interceding, they recognize the importance and particular significance of the political negotiation process, on the basis of realism and a spirit of compromise, that needs to be preserved. They also reiterate their appreciation for the serious, credible efforts underlying the Moroccan autonomy Initiative. Finally, they agree that the Moroccan law applies to the Kingdom’s entire territory.

Official press releases and public statements have been published to this effect.

Given the above clarifications and the absolute necessity for full compliance with the Moroccan law by everyone, without exception and throughout the nation’s territory, the Kingdom of Morocco has agreed to a request for the return of A. Haidar to the Kingdom.”
