Add a brief title

Great Britain, in its capacity as permanent member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), respects the stance of Morocco and supports the efforts exerted by the UN Secretary General and his personal envoy for the Sahara, Christopher Ross, Director of the MENA region at the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office said on Thursday.

The Moroccan initiative to grant autonomy to its southern provinces, the Sahara, is a "serious proposal," John Jenkins told the press, hoping that the parties could reach a final solution to the conflict within the framework of the UNSC.

Jenkins said the British-Moroccan relations witness sustainable development, highlighting the two countries' prospects for economic cooperation, mainly in the field of financial services.

Morocco offers numerous investment opportunities thanks to its political stability and strategic position, he said.

The British diplomat hailed Morocco’s “positive” efforts in economic and social matters.

Jenkins said his first visit to Morocco is meant to examine means to promote bilateral cooperation and exchange viewpoints on some regional issues.
