Morocco is resolved to advance the negotiation process on the Sahara issue, Morocco's Foreign Minister, Taïb Fassi Fihri, said on Thursday
Speaking at the weekly cabinet meeting about the latest visit of Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for Sahara, Christopher Ross, Fassi Fihri underlined the strong will of the Moroccan government to facilitate the task of the UN envoy, including the participation in the informal meetings requested by Ross, as part of his pragmatic approach, Government's Spokesman, Khalid Naciri, said.

Morocco hopes for an effective and positive participation from all parties in order to prepare for the coming official rounds of negotiations as requested by the Security Council resolutions, notably resolution 1871, added Fassi Fihri.

Ross's tour of the region is part of the latest Security Council resolution that mentions in a positive manner Morocco's plan to grant autonomy to its Southern Provinces, the Sahara, in respect of the Kingdom's territorial integrity, he said, pointing out that this resolution calls for launching serious and substantive negotiations.
