The Moroccan press condemned on Monday, "the entry, Friday, of some 1,400 people including foreigners, supervised by the polisario in the buffer zone, east of the berm," describing this new provocation as a "flagrant violation" of the military agreements with the United Nations under the supervision of the MINURSO,Daily paper, "L'Opinion" said the incident "undermines all the cease-fire agreements which provide for a demilitarized zone." It also deemed it a premeditated act, a challenge to the international community, and a threat to peace and stability in the region.

For "Al Ittitihad Al Ichtiraki", this infiltration constitutes a dangerous escalation by the polisario and Algeria and runs the risk of scuttling the efforts of cease-fire.

"Morocco has always worked for a regional comprehensive solution through the autonomy proposal which is endorsed by the world's greatest powers," French-speaking daily "Libération" said, adding that "the provocation is clear and the responsibility of the sponsoring neighbor cannot be ruled out."

"Assahra Al Maghribia" deemed the polisario's action not only a provocation for Morocco but also an act of defiance to the UN which is supervising the settlement of the Sahara issue, while "Al Bayane" noted that the move reflects a clear sign of confusion of Algiers and the polisario following the recognition by the international community of Morocco's autonomy plan as a viable solution.

“Rissalat Al Oumma” said this provocation reflects the will of separatists and their sponsors to abort the negotiation process backed by the international community.

« Aujourd'hui le Maroc » denounced the new separatist provocation as an attempt to sabotage the current efforts to put the Sahara negotiation process back on trail.
