A rights association urged the United Nations Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, to pressure the "Polisario" and its mentor, Algeria, to free the sequestrated Sahrawi population in Tindouf Camps, Southwestern Algeria.

In a press release issued Friday, Arrai's executive committee stressed the need to free the population from the code of silence it has been victim of for more than three long decades under the yoke of the Polisario and Algerian security, so that Sahrawis in Tindouf can finally express desire to join Morocco.

The NGO saluted the attention and the unanimous welcome the international community granted to Morocco's autonomy proposal that the United Nations Organization described as being "serious and credible".

It also voiced hope that the nomination of a new UNSG personal envoy to the Sahara would instill dynamism and energy into the commendable efforts made by his predecessor, to reach a just, realistic and mutually acceptable solution.
