White House reiterates its support to autonomy of Sahara as only realistic solution to the dispute

Washington, The White House on Monday reiterated that the United States supports Sahara autonomy under Morocco's sovereignty as the only realistic solution to the Sahara issue,"President (Bush) addressed a letter to King Mohammed VI, wherein he reiterates the position of the United States as initially announced in the UN Security Council, to the effect that autonomy under Morocco's sovereignty is the only realistic solution to the dispute over western Sahara," said White House spokeswoman, Dana Perino,She added that the president has also expressed "our support for substantive negotiations on this issue within the framework of the United Nations."


In his latest letter to king Mohammed VI confirming the clear national position of the United States of America, which considers that an independent State in the Sahara is not a realistic option, president Bush had also underlined that the autonomy proposal submitted by the kingdom was credible and serious.
