Sahara issue: China calls for immediate resumption of negotiations

China said the absence of a solution to the Sahara issue undermines the interests of the countries of the Maghreb Arab and their aspirations to achieve development and integration, calling for "the immediate resumption of negotiations " "China understands Morocco’s concerns about this issue and hopes the parties concerned will continue to show flexibility and will to overcome their differences and endeavoure to find a common ground towards a fair, lasting and acceptable solution in accordance with the Security Council's resolutions," Director General of the Department of West Asia and North Africa at the Chinese Foreign Ministry Song Aiguo told MAP. 

The Chinese official said his country is ready to coordinate with the international community to continue its constructive role to reach a suitable solution to the Sahara issue.
